From one pool to another

We are leaving our beautiful "Il Cerqueto" farmhouse where we have enjoyed 11 days of sunshine and a mix of chaotic hilltop towns interspersed with some much needed chillaxing around the pool.

Brenda enjoying some reading time

Enroute to our next Airbnb - is one of Italy's hidden gems - "Civita di Bagnoregio". This is the last of the 13 hilltop towns we have visited - and its the toughest to get to.

It's a long way up from here, and our car (parked as close as possible) is even further and higher up behind us!

Due to its unstable foundation that often erodes, Civita di Bagnoregio is famously known as "the dying city". It is a member of the "I Borghi più belli d'Italia" (The most beautiful villages of Italy) association. As it's not really on the tourist map, and because it's early in the morning, we have the town to ourselves!

Brenda's fitbit tells us it took over 5,000 steps to view this town and I am guessing that only about 50 were on the level. But it was well worth the effort.

And the view from the town overlooking the valley below

With our last hilltop town now done, we head south to San Pietro Romano (about 50 kms east of Rome). Here we are staying at another very nicely appointed Airbnb called "Il Casale delle Ginestre". It's also up a big hill - but we can drive to our front door.

While here, we visited the local "Castel San Pietro Romano".....

Up this way to the "Castel"

Almost there - I think I hear Brenda muttering... "thought you said we were done with the climbing!"

After that it was time for lunch and then a quick trip back to our Airbnb to chill.

More poolside relaxing - our accommodation on the left and Rome in the distance on the right

So from one poolside to another - ain't life a bitch!

Tomorrow we head off Sorrento where we have another Airbnb claiming to be "a rooftop terrace apartment with the best views over Sorrento and the Bay of Naples". Can't wait!
